Can nurses use AI for documentation? Questions to ask first
The useful question is not simply whether a tool contains AI. It is whether a specific use has an authorised purpose, appropriate information governance, adequate evidence, human oversight and a clear accountable owner.
NurseNote Assess currently uses deterministic case-specific checks for its score. It is fictional formative practice, not an AI writer for live records.
A governance checklist before use
Confirm what problem the tool is meant to solve, what data it receives, where data goes, whether outputs are retained, how errors are detected and who remains accountable. Check organisational approval before entering clinical or workforce information.
For any use that could influence care, education progression or employment, the evidence and oversight should match the consequence of an error. A fluent demonstration is not validation.

Why NurseNote chose a narrower first product
The current product removes the temptation to paste a live record. Learners write from a fixed fictional case, the rubric checks expected evidence and the answer example remains locked until after a retry.
The score is explicitly formative and capped while independent review validation is incomplete.

Could NurseNote scores be used for recruitment?
Not in the current beta. The rubric is not validated for employment, academic or competency decisions.
